As mentioned earlier, Twilight has taught many teenagers and young adults that true and passionate love only comes after immense suffering. Love may be worth a lot, but not when it comes to giving away ones life. Edward is introduced as this selfless character that falls genuinely for Bella (lead female). He protects her from every possible harm that could come her way, and contemplates suicide when he thought that he had failed her. This character has blinded many teenage girls, and has set the bar up high for the men who actually exist in the real world. We will be tackling this issue, and will be providing visual aids to raise awareness of this happening.

We do not intend to bash the Twilight series because of its content, but on how it has affected a large segment of teenagers, and basically brainwashes them worse than Harry Potter ever did! Some girls have been complaining about how the series has caused her an obsession with the Twilight world, and how it is affecting her ability to live a normal life.

Average Twilight Fans

An anti-Twilight fan claimed that the series are “seeking to destroy any glimmering hope that today's youth will emerge as a literate, intelligent generation. And, being a part of that generation myself, that's just not cool with me at all.” Vampire love stories, or the “forbidden” love stories have always existed, so why is this series especially receiving so much attention and publicity? What motives and incentives do the characters and story itself have, that allowed such a big section of the youth to be driven off into fantasy? Facebook groups have been launched to talk about Twilight’s affects on teenage girls, one of which is titled "Because I read Twilight, I have unrealistic expectations in men”. It basically entails a series of Twilight updates, with fans posting their appreciation for the existence of this series. The group posts “After you read Twilight, you want your lover to- play piano, be able to protect you from oncoming traffic with only his fist, only have eyes for you when a hot waitress is throwing herself at him, not be embarrassed that he only dreams about you, to not want to live in this world if you’re not in it, to write you a lullaby for you, etc..”. Although it may just be just a bunch of fans posting their affection for the series, it gives us an overview of what high expectations such series has created.

Hot

What about our dear Robert Pattinson (Edward’s character)? He had his moment in the fourth Harry Potter movie, where he played one of Harry’s rivals. No one commented on his looks then or praised his sole existence. A few years later, he plays a bewildering selfless vampire, and suddenly a cult on his behalf is shaped. So we begin to question, is it the dreamy vampire Edward Cullens that they love, or is it the hot Robert Pattinson?

This culture jam entitled “Twinight” (pronounced twi-night) is a play on word of the Twilight series. The title revolves around the video posted, where instead of the events taking place during the twilight time (like the movies), it takes place at night.
